24 February 2017 – Giving voice to people affected by conflict and crises in Africa’s Lake Chad Basin, a global United Nations-supported humanitarian conference in Oslo today generated more than $670 million in pledges that will help sustain critical relief operations over the next two years and beyond across four counties where millions are in need of aid.

6 dead, over 100 hurt in magnitude-6.7 Surigao quake




Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Six people were reported dead and more than 100 injured after a strong 6.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Surigao City on Friday night.

"We have 6 fatalities and we have 125 injured for this time," Senior Supt. Antony Maghari of Philippine National Police-Surigao del Norte told CNN Philippines on Saturday afternoon.

10 February 2017 – The number of food insecure people in Yemen has risen by three million in seven months, with an estimated 17.1 million people – more than two-thirds of the entire population of 27.4 million – now struggling to feed themselves, according to a joint assessment by three United Nations agencies.

WE PRAY THE CONTINUES AND LONG AND LASTING PEACE AND SUCCESSFUL RESULTS OF THE PEACE DEAL IN COLUMBIA BETWEEN FARC AND COLUMBIAN GOVERNMENT.  WE HOPE THE OTHER COUNTRIES SAVE LIVES AND END WAR AND START IN PEACE DEAL NEGOTIATIONS.  RESPECT EACH OTHERS RIGHTS EVEN IN RELIGIONS THAT ONE OF THE ROOT CONFLICTS IN MIDDLE EAST LIKE SYRIA AND IRAQ.

UN: Spike in Afghan kids killed, maimed by unexploded munitions


(CNN)The number of child casualties in the long-running Afghan war jumped last year, spiking 24% from 2015 in large part from leftover munitions, the U.N. Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said in a report on Monday.

"Children have been killed, blinded, crippled -- or inadvertently caused the death of their friends -- while playing with unexploded ordnance that is negligently left behind by parties to the conflict," said Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

2 February 2017 – More than 200 men and women of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) marched today to demobilization camps, two months after a peace deal that ended the Western Hemisphere’s longest running conflict, United Nations monitors coordinating the process reported.

The UN Mission in Colombia said the Transitional Point of Normalization of Pondores, department of La Guajira, in northern Colombia, according to figures from tripartite Monitoring and Verification Mechanism, composed of the Government, the FARC-EP and coordinated by the UN Mission.
