Israel intends to take control of all of Gaza, Netanyahu says as security cabinet meets



Israel’s security cabinet is meeting to decide on a full reoccupation of Gaza, a move that would mark a major escalation of the conflict after nearly two years of war in the territory.

Despite international pressure, opposition from the Israeli military and domestic fears the operation will endanger hostages, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pushed for a complete takeover of the besieged enclave.

Facing rising risks, landlocked nations launch climate alliance at UN summit


Countries agreed Thursday to form a new climate negotiating bloc to advocate for the unique needs of nations without direct access to the sea. The decision was reached at the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), currently under way in Awaza, Turkmenistan.
