Trump expressed "deep sorrow" over DC shooting to Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister’s Office says

US President Donald Trump expressed his “deep sorrow” over the killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in a phone call with Israel’s leader Benjamin Netanyahu today, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.
Netanyahu also thanked Trump for “the efforts he and his administration are making against manifestations of anti-Semitism in the United States,” it added.
“The president reaffirmed his commitment to uproot the violent antisemitism that has swept across university campuses in this country,” Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter told reporters earlier outside the Capital Jewish Museum today.
CNN has reached out to the White House about the call.
Leiter said he talked to Trump last night and met with Attorney General Pam Bondi and interim DC attorney Jeanine Pirro at the site of the shooting. He said the US president was “very firm in his statement expressing condolence and condemning violence.”
