From a crackdown on immigration to targeting diversity, equity and inclusion programs, here’s a look into the executive orders and actions the president has taken since inauguration on Monday:
Immigration: Trump signed executive orders that would give the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency more freedom to conduct enforcement actions in sensitive areas, expand the pool of undocumented immigrants subject to fast-track deportation and put an end to birthright citizenship.
Southern border: Thousands more active duty US troops were ordered to the southern border, two days after Trump declared a national emergency to facilitate new deployments.
Investigations into officials: The Department of Justice ordered federal prosecutors to investigate and charge state and local officials who refuse to cooperate with his mass deportation program.
DEI: The administration put government employees in all federal diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility offices on paid administrative leave. He also banned DEI programs in federal agencies.
January 6 pardons: One of the first acts Trump announced during his second term was a pardon for most of those who have been charged in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
Federal health agencies: The Trump administration has directed federal health agencies to pause external communications, such as regular scientific reports, updates to websites and health advisories.
World Health Organization: Trump announced Monday he is withdrawing the US from the World Health Organization, a significant move cutting ties with the UN’s public health agency.
Paris climate accord: The president signed an action withdrawing the US again from the Paris climate accord, the emission-lowering agreement that predates his first term
TikTok: Trump signed an executive action that extended the deadline for TikTok’s parent company to find a new owner or face a ban in the US. His action extends TikTok’s deadline by 75 days.
